The workshop was developed by Dr. Peter Steinke and is based on the work of Dr. Edwin Friedman. … \nFriedman noted that in many congregations today negative\, reactive forces are allowed to set the agenda for the church. What can be done to prevent anxiety from becoming a toxic force in your congregation? DESCRIPTION:You are cordially invited to apply for admission to the 2016 Omaha Presbyterian Seminary Summer School for Pastors. The School is open to all Presbyterian Church (USA) clergy and commissioned ruling elders in the thirteen Midwest states served by the Foundation. This year we are celebrating the 60th anniversary of this educational event. \nIn Mark 6:31 it states “Then\, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat\, he [Jesus] said to them\, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’” We believe that the upcoming Summer Pastors’ School will be such an opportunity – a time to Awaken\, Rekindle\, Enliven and yes\, to Rest. \nThe two institutional sponsors of the School are the Omaha Presbyterian Seminary Foundation and Hastings College. SUMMARY:Westminster Concert Bell Choir
DESCRIPTION:Plan now to enjoy a special evening with the Westminster Concert Bell Choir. The concert will be held Wednesday\, June 1\, 2016\, 7PM\, at First Presbyterian Church\, 2701 Rochester Avenue\, Iowa City. This amazing handbell choir from Westminster Choir College of Rider University\, Princeton New Jersey\, is on a national “Songs of America” Tour. The performance will feature arrangements of patriotic favorites\, American songs\, hymns plus original works performed on the world’s largest range of handbells and Choirchimes®. There will be a free will offering. \nThe Westminster Concert Bell Choir is composed of undergraduate and graduate students of Westminster Choir College of Rider University. Its director is Kathleen Ebling Shaw. This year marks the 38th year of the handbell curriculum at Westminster Choir College\, which was the first institution to develop such a program. \nPlease join in welcoming this choir to Iowa City and treating your family to this spectacular concert!
