Ruling and Teaching Elders are called to their leadership roles, often for their excellence in areas far removed from the financial management of a church. Should you have an endowment? How is it managed? Does having an endowment hurt annual stewardship? How does the church manage cash flow when pledges are paid quarterly? Does your congregation make decisions from a sense of scarcity or a confidence in God’s abundance?
Studies show that donors – your members – want to see transparency in financial management and they want to see that their gifts make a difference in ministry and mission. Generational giving patterns suggest that older members see the value in a “savings account” and younger members are frustrated that so many needs in the world are not being met.
This workshop will address those questions, best practices in flourishing churches, some ways to kick-start giving, services that the Presbyterian Foundation can offer, and answers to the questions you bring!
