PEIA welcomes Rev. Sarah Hegar to serve as Networking Associate. Sarah grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa, a child of a Presbyterian pastor. After graduating from Iowa State University she moved to Austin, Texas to attend Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and received her Master of Divinity in 2009. It was there she met her husband, Trey. In 2010, Trey accepted a call to serve a church in Chester, South Carolina. Sarah was ordained and served a small country church for two years before taking a position with Providence Presbytery as the Associate for Education and Resourcing.
Trey Hegar is the pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant where Trey and Sarah reside with their three year old son, Hudson, and their yellow lab, Maggie.
Sarah is looking forward to connecting the churches, pastors, and members of PEIA to resources, educational events, and each other! Through experiences with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbyterian Youth Triennium, General Assembly, Montreat Conference Center, and APCE events – just to name a few – Sarah has grown to love and appreciate the connectional church and the important and exciting ministry that can happen by working together.
Sarah will be introduced at our next Presbytery meeting for approval in this new position. Please welcome Sarah!
