In celebration of World Communion Sunday and our Peace and Global Witness Offering this October, one of our partners in Christ’s work from the other side of an ocean will come to Iowa to meet us. Peacemaking Task Force has applied for an International Peacemaker from either Fiji, Greece, or South Sudan (topics: helping refugees on the island of Lesvos, healing the trauma of women and children in refugee camps in South Sudan, climate justice).

Peacemakers come absolutely free with no strings attached because this is the work of your Peace and Global Witness offering.
If we get our choice of dates, the Peacemaker would most likely be in the southern half of the presbytery on Sunday Oct. 3, and will be able to visit more than one church there. We urge churches in any part of the Presbytery to consider organizing a congregational event or group lunch, breakfast or supper to take advantage of the days surrounding this weekend, when we will also have the Peacemaker with us. Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, are all possibilities. Please contact Lisa Ross Thedens if you’re interested in hosting. Remember, your gathering could also be virtual if you wish. We hope to know which Peacemaker we’ll host sometime in June.
We are moved and changed when we we open our hearts to the depth and breadth of Christ’s grace at work in the world.
